Retail Manager
December 2024
High Lawn Farm is seeking a full-time Retail Manager to lead our farm store team and manage our retail day-to-day operations. A strong candidate for this position is a self-starter and has a passion for high-quality foods, especially dairy products, and local agriculture. It is essential that this candidate exhibits strong communication skills, and is prepared to lead by example, in a hands-on fashion.
This role contributes toward the sustainability of overall farm function and supports the connection of our unique cow-to-cone experience on our idyllic farmstead. The retail manager will oversee all aspects of farm store sales, staff management, inventory control, customer service, and coordinating pop-up events and farmers markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Management of year-round and seasonal retail store and farmers' market staff, including hiring, scheduling, training, and assessing performance
Maintain a clean and organized store environment as well as merchandising, fronting/ facing products, and maintaining FIFO of all products
Cutting, wrapping, and preparing cheese for retail sale and preparation of RTE food, including prep + cooking of sandwiches, scooping ice cream, and making cheese plates and milkshakes
Management of retail e-commerce, including pick-up and shipping orders
Answering customer questions & emails while upholding excellent customer service standards
Management of purchasing, inventory control, and pricing
Generate sales and waste reports, review sales data and KPIs to identify opportunities and monitor progress toward goals
Collaborate with farm production and marketing teams to provide feedback, plan promotions, and agri-tourism events
Troubleshoot and problem-solve retail-related challenges with management team
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have management experience and a solid understanding of food safety, customer service, and knowledge of cheese and specialty foods. Candidates must have an active driver's license and the ability to lift up to 45 lbs and obtain/ hold active food safety certifications, including but not limited to: ServSafe Food Manager, MA Allergen Awareness, and Choke-Safe training. This position requires most weekends and holidays. Relocation support can be considered.
Strong candidates for this position will have experience in retail, hospitality, cheesemongering, and/or agriculture education .

Accounts Payable Specialist

We are hiring a part-time Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to join our team. This flexible, 20-hour-a-week position is ideal for someone with solid experience in Accounts Payable who is proficient in Excel, QuickBooks, and Google Sheets. The AP Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and contributing to the financial success of our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Invoice Processing: Review, code, and process invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Payment Processing: Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, and other payment methods as required, ensuring timely payments to vendors.
Vendor Communication: Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status, resolve discrepancies, and maintain positive vendor relationships.
Account Reconciliation: Reconcile AP aging reports with accounting records and ensure timely resolution of any discrepancies.
Data Entry & Filing: Ensure accurate data entry into QuickBooks, Google Sheets, and Excel, and maintain organized electronic filing systems for AP records.
General Administrative Support: Provide ad hoc support to the Accounting team as needed, including assisting with month-end close and preparing reports.
Compliance & Documentation: Maintain up-to-date vendor records and ensure that proper documentation is in place for audit purposes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Accounts Payable with a solid understanding of AP processes and best practices. Candidates for this position must have a strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and Google Sheets.

Relief Delivery Truck Driver
December 2024
We are hiring a full-time (non-CDL) Relief Delivery Truck Driver to join our team in distributing our collection of farm-fresh, 100% Jersey dairy products to stores, restaurants, institutions, and coffee shops from the Berkshires to Boston.
The best candidate for this position will be someone who is motivated, responsible and has a positive attitude. The candidate must exhibit good public relations skills, as this position represents the face of our company and works directly with our customers daily.
SCHEDULE:
This relief driver position will require the employee to learn each of our delivery routes. This will require intensive training within the first couple months of employment, to learn each route delivery sequence and locations. Following training the employee will rotate between routes to cover route drivers' time off and assist in extra runs.
This position requires the employee to be adaptable to covering each type of route our distribution team serves. The Eastern MA routes include a 4-day work week with an early morning start between 1:00-2:00 am. The Eastern MA routes require overnight stays at a hotel near Boston paid for by the company two nights a week. The Western MA routes include a 5-day work week with an early morning start between 3:00-4:00 am.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Compensation includes salary, plus commission. Salary is commensurate with experience and willingness to learn. Benefits include a matching 401(k) retirement plan, health insurance, Aflac, paid time off, employee discounts, and weekly milk stipends.
REQUIREMENTS:

Quality & Food Safety Lead
December 2024
High Lawn Farm is looking for a detail-oriented individual to oversee the quality control aspects of dairy production throughout our dairy plant, cheese making, butter, and ice cream processing.
A strong candidate will be self-driven and work well independently, with good communication skills, as well as patience and understanding.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Quality control of raw and finished products
Understanding of current state and federal regulations for food processing
Sample, test, and identify potential bacteria and areas of weakness in preventative measures
Prepare and maintain Food Safety Plans, environmental testing, and records
Arrange, conduct, and coordinate audits, inspections, and food safety meetings
Coordinate and lead food safety training
Inspect production spaces and transportation vehicles and report issues of concern to Food Safety Team and management
Follow up on verification and corrective actions of actionable items
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have a solid understanding of food safety and production and hold a high school diploma or higher. Candidates for this position must be willing to take courses and pursue continued education to stay up to date with regulations.
Preference will be given to applicants who have lab experience, and an understanding of microbiology and chemistry. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates who speak both English and Spanish.

Groundskeeper

We are seeking a year-round Groundskeeper to help keep our grounds functionally and aesthetically sound. The best candidate for this position will be someone who exhibits a positive attitude and is receptive to instruction.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Maintains lawns, landscaping, trees, shrubs, flowers, irrigation, exterior fencing, and driveways
Operates various types of landscaping/ gardening power equipment and hand tools
Assists with trimming, cutting, and removing trees and shrubs as needed
Completes snow removal tasks by operating snowplows, and snowblowers to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots
