Retail Operations Manager

March 2025

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced full-time Retail Operations Manager to lead our farm store team and oversee daily retail operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive and motivated leader with a strong passion for high-quality foods—especially dairy products—and local agriculture. This individual should possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate a hands-on leadership approach, and be committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience.

This role plays a crucial part in supporting the overall sustainability of our farm while enhancing the customer’s connection to our unique cow-to-cone experience. The Retail Operations Manager will be responsible for all aspects of farm store operations; including sales, staff supervision, inventory control, customer service, and coordination of pop-up events and farmers' market attendance.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Team Leadership & Management: 

  • Store Operations, Merchandising & Shipping

  • Food Preparation & Customer Engagement

  • Inventory & Financial Management

  • Collaboration & Event Coordination

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous management experience in retail, hospitality, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices, customer service excellence, and specialty foods (cheese expertise preferred).

  • A valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

  • Must obtain and maintain food safety certifications, including but not limited to: 

  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification

  • Massachusetts Allergen Awareness Training

  • Choke-Safe Training

  • Availability to work weekends and holidays.

  • Preferred experience in cheese mongering, agriculture education, or farm-based retail environments.

Farm Store Retail Associate   

March 2025  

We’re seeking motivated individuals to join our Farmstead Creamery retail team. At our farm store — located right here on our idyllic farm just feet away from where our cows get milked— we sell our own artisanal dairy products and a selection of other locally-produced goods.

The right candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, listen and communicate effectively with customers and other staff members, take direction, problem solve, keep a clean workspace, and follow daily, weekly and monthly standard operating procedures. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Register transactions and cash handling

  • Greet and interact with customers with a welcoming and friendly attitude

  • Scooping and serving ice cream while providing excellent customer service

  • Assisting with and making grilled cheese orders, charcuterie board and/or special events orders

  • Cutting and wrapping cheeses 

  • Marketing daily samples

  • Restocking, facing & fronting items

  • Assisting with miscellaneous retail store duties, projects and assignments upon occurrence 

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be able to lift at least 35 lbs, the ability to work in a team environment, and exhibit a positive, professional attitude. Experience in retail or customer service is preferred. Knowledge of specialty cheeses and ability to scoop and serve ice cream is a plus!

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage is based on experience. Plus, tips! Benefits include employee discounts and weekly milk stipends. 

We have both year-round and seasonal positions available. Additionally, we have both part-time and full-time shifts available. The Farmstead Creamery shop is currently open 7 days a week from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm (with extended hours in the summer). Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Distribution & Logistics Manager

March 2025

High Lawn Farm is seeking an experienced individual to supervise our distribution fleet, and team and oversee our delivery route logistics. A strong candidate will exhibit professional communication skills, display the ability to optimize efficiencies and lead by example.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Supervise truck drivers and coordinate fleet services

  • Analyze and oversee delivery route logistics and onboarding of new customers

  • Ensure quality control and safe food handling during distribution

  • Collaborate with the management team to identify methods to improve efficiency

  • Understanding of current state and federal transportation regulations

  • Maintain and enhance SOPs, route sequences, maintenance logs, and general records

  • Organize and conduct employee training, and performance evaluations

  • Coordinate distribution schedules and employee time off

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an understanding of diesel mechanics and maintenance, and a willingness to drive and deliver when necessary to provide support for the HLF Driver team (Requires early mornings and overnights). Applicants must have management and logistics experience, a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift at least 45 lbs. Applicants must be able to pass a DOT physical, and background check. Preference will be given to candidates with distribution or fleet management and experience with vehicle telematics.

Relief Delivery Truck Driver

March 2025

We are hiring a full-time (non-CDL) Relief Delivery Truck Driver to join our team in distributing our collection of farm-fresh, 100% Jersey dairy products to stores, restaurants, institutions, and coffee shops from the Berkshires to Boston. 

The best candidate for this position will be someone who is motivated, responsible and has a positive attitude. The candidate must exhibit good public relations skills, as this position represents the face of our company and works directly with our customers daily. 

SCHEDULE:

This relief driver position will require the employee to learn each of our delivery routes. This will require intensive training within the first couple months of employment, to learn each route delivery sequence and locations. Following training the employee will rotate between routes to cover route drivers' time off and assist in extra runs.

This position requires the employee to be adaptable to covering each type of route our distribution team serves. The Eastern MA routes include a 4-day work week with an early morning start between 1:00-2:00 am. The Eastern MA routes require overnight stays at a hotel near Boston paid for by the company two nights a week. The Western MA routes include a 5-day work week with an early morning start between 3:00-4:00 am.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Compensation includes salary, plus commission. Salary is commensurate with experience and willingness to learn. Benefits include a matching 401(k) retirement plan, health insurance, Aflac, paid time off, employee discounts, and weekly milk stipends. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants are required to have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and the ability to lift at least 45 lbs repeatedly. Applicants must have a flexible schedule and the ability to cover overnight runs. Candidates must be able to pass a drug test and background check and maintain an active DOT physical.

Housekeeper

We are hiring a year-round Housekeeper who is experienced, proactive, and meticulous. This individual will have a proven track record of caring for fine furnishings, laundering delicate fabrics, customized surfaces, and finishes.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have related experience and expertise in similar positions.

  • Honest, diligent, responsible, courteous, and discreet. 

  • Have an exceptional eye for detail.

  • Extensive knowledge of the care of fine furnishings, antiques, and artwork.

  • Hard-working, with strong organizational skills; excellent time manager. Flexible attitude; hands-on approach to all tasks.

  • Able to follow directions and instructions from the employer and accept constructive criticism.

  • Long-term intent.
